Jason Sarracini

The best people to work for are less bosses and more collaborative partners. They align you to their vision and instil intrinsic motivation to achieve it.

When I co-owned the agency Radiant Core we were very fortunate to have Target Vacations as one of our first clients. Years later, post agency and post my follow-up position, Jason approached me in 2011 with an offer to work on redefining packaged travel in Canada out of the Target Vacations arm of Sarracini Travel. A little over a year later we were acquired by TorStar Digital and rebranded Jaunt under the WagJag label.

I can count on one hand the number of great bosses I’ve had and Jason is on that list. Great employers have a distinct vision but collaborate with their reports to achieve it. I was always excited to come to work with Jason and explore the possibilities for the packaged travel market in Canada. It was definitely an education on how the travel industry works in Canada and the challenges associated with breaking out from that mold.

A year later Target Vacations was acquired by TorStar Digital and after the acquisition I watched Jason build a fantastic team at TorStar to adapt packaged travel to the group buying space. He continued to collaborate with all the team members and align everyone towards the same goal. Jason was always pragmatic, positive and didn’t let challenges phase him. Ultimately group buying began to contract, and as we each departed TorStar Digital Jason pivoted again, finding success in luxury travel with companies like Tully, Unmapped, and Hosted Villas.

He continues to fight an uphill battle during COVID like all entrepreneurs in the travel space. He’s rejoined his family’s business Sarracini Travel under the Omega Tours branch as Managing Director. In lieu of travel options abroad, I have been seeing a fantastic array of local Canadian travel options coming out of Omega. I know through his determination that when we all emerge from our insolation cocoons and there is a surge again in travel that Jason will be there to reap the rewards of his patience and persistence.
