“Enthusiasm is common. Endurance is rare.” - Angela Duckworth

In 2004 Web 2.0 was in full swing and Amber Mac caught my attention on G4TechTV with Call for Help. I remember Amber was prominent at local events in Liberty Village and at MaRS Discovery District. She made the move to independent media with the show commandN along with her now partner Christopher Dick and brother Jeff.

Amber is full of enthusiasm but has defined herself as Canada’s preeminent tech personality bringing relentless endurance through enthusiasm.

Amber has bridged the gap between modern, independent online media and traditional television. Appearing on shows like with The Marilyn Denis Show and a wide variety of television news Amber now reaches a broad mainstream consumer market.

Since her early appearances on TechTV and going independent I’ve seen Amber as an incredibly focused individual in the Canadian tech scene. I would argue she is now the number one personality in Canada that informs the general public on new consumer technology trends.

She hosts a dizzying array of tech show, podcasts and television appearances as well as being a prominent moderator and keynote for over 400 worldwide events. She’s even found time to do a home renovation series with a tech spin on  a summer house in her home province of PEI.

Most recently I was impressed with Amber’s contribution to COVID related causes by levering her impressive media reach. She has been a strong voice for LTC homes in Canada, has assisted with the Sadaqa Project providing hot meals with Mohamad Fakih, and helped a group of us at Companion Champions connect with Nextdoor to help those who feel vulnerable walking in their communities connect with others and form stronger, safer bonds between neighbouring Canadians.

I honestly don’t know how Amber finds the time to publish so much content and appear on so many shows and events. I admire people who have a relentless focus and iterate year over year to grow their vision and their brand. That’s why I’ve added Amber to My52.
