As a parent, my number one goal is to provide the best possible life for my family. You don’t want to spoil your children, but you want them to have great experiences and to be the best person they can be. After becoming a parent I understood how challenging it was for my father.

As I’ve said before, my father is one of my heros and definitely the first. I remember being excited for career day to watch how he performed at work as an executive at a pharmaceutical company. An office job turns out to be slightly less dramatic than a 12 year old imagines but it didn’t make me any less proud.

Though I didn’t quite know the full extent at the time, I watched my father struggle to make sure he gave his kids the best possible advantage in education. It was a stressful time for him but I’m grateful for the opportunity to go to a school where the ratio of students to teacher helped me perform better and build more confidence in myself.

I was excited and extremely proud to see him break off from corporate life and start his own consulting practice. It showed me firsthand the challenges to venture out on your own and how long building a successful consulting practice takes.

His consulting career spanned two decades and two major ups and downs as I recall. In the end he was able to retire being very proud of the work he had accomplished and the connections he’d made.

Now in retirement, I’m continually proud of the work he does with organizations like Kinark, helping causes like No Fly List Kids, and most recently Board Chair of CMHO (Children’s Mental Health Ontario). The work is so helpful to so many and makes him happy to be able to give back.

On this Father’s Day I’m incredibly proud to add my father, Gregory Glenn to My 52. Thanks for everything you’ve done and helped me to achieve dad.

Love you Dad..
